Bar Sustainability Network
The Bar Sustainability Network is at the forefront of changing the attitude and approach of the private and public bar towards the climate crisis. The BSN supports barristers, chambers and the Inns of Court to measure and manage their emissions by providing practical advice and tools, as well as developing a collaborative approach to support the Bar’s ambitions for net zero transition.
Achill Legal has taken on delivery of the BSN, with an Advisory Board providing strategic leadership.
The Network
The Bar Sustainability Network is an independent network designed to support chambers, Inns and others to transition to a more sustainable way of working – saving not just carbon emissions but costs. By embedding sustainability into chambers and daily practice, barristers can contribute to a more resilient, responsible legal sector while upholding their duty to future generations.
BSN in Action
Through a programme of events, resources, collaborative working spaces and working groups, the BSN aims to upskill barristers and their colleagues on how to measure and manage their carbon impact, whether through reducing business travel or understanding and minimising the climate impact of their premises. A bespoke carbon calculator is a key membership benefit.
Joining the Network
Barristers can use their influence to advance sustainability and demonstrate environmental leadership to address the urgent challenge of climate change.
