Legal Charter 1.5 is a high-ambition initiative developed collaboratively by a group of large commercial/corporate law firms to shift thinking and drive transformational change to mitigate the climate crisis. This exclusive network is embarking on ground-breaking work to ensure that the legal industry fulfils its potential to drive the UK’s transition to net zero.
An Advisory Board oversees the strategic direction of the Charter, with full secretariat support provided by Achill Legal.
The Charter
Guided by alignment with a 1.5-degree world, Legal Charter 1.5 facilitates the collaboration necessary to enable law firms to tackle complex challenges, to deepen and accelerate their responses to climate change and help them to effectively inform, advise and assist clients.
Leadership
Moving from decarbonising operations towards sector leadership, Charter firms are exploring the future of the sector’s response to the climate and nature crises. The Charter fosters a culture of sharing, collaboration and material action through a series of Workstreams, including Advised Emissions, Matters and Mandates, Meaningful Offsetting, Education, Pro Bono and Governance.
